Projects

Wallan Environment Group runs many projects to meet the group’s aims.

  • Aim: preserve, enhance and restore the flora and fauna along Wallan’s waterways
    Example: reclamation of Wallan Creek, willow removal and revegetation with indigenous plants
  • Aim: improve Wallan’s amenity values by developing a network of linked parks and open spaces
    Example: improvement of reserves such as Taylors Creek, Greenhill Reserve, Wallan Community Park, Hidden Valley Rail Reserve, Hidden Valley Bushland Reserve, Danaher Reserve
  • Aim: encourage active community participation in the group’s activities
    Example: local clean up days, weed management, habit improvement, nesting boxes, community planting days
  • Aim: increase public awareness, participation and ownership of the natural environment
    Example: information sessions, guided local walks
  • Aim: serve as an advocate for the natural environment and open space areas of Wallan
    Example: commentary and feedback on local environment issues
