The region from Wallan towards Melbourne includes large areas of current and proposed urban and industrial development. It is also the site of the upper catchment of the Merri Creek.
The Victorian State government commissioned a feasibility study into wallan wallan Regional Parkland. The study, released in 2022, considers the need for open space, community recreation areas, the natural water flows and protection fauna and flora.
Wallan Environment Group has joined with Merri Creek Management Committee, BEAM Mitchell Environment Group, Friends of Merri Creek and Victorian National Parks Association in an alliance calling for the establishment of the wallan wallan Regional Parkland.
You can find out more about the park, read the feasibility study, and sign the petition at the alliance website https://wallanwallanrp.org.au
